Why is it called 'Romantic?'

Composers turned their attention to the expression of intense feelings in their music during this time period. This expression of emotion was the focus of all the arts of the self-described "Romantic" movement.

Romantic music is a term used to mark an era of Western Classical Music that began approximately in the 1800s into the 1900s. It was related to the Romanticism, the European artistic and literary movement that arose in the second half of the 18th century, and Romantic music is particular dominated the Romantic movement in Germany.
